Hanks Drops Big Fat Greek Wedding Lawsuit

Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson and actress Nia Vardalos have dropped their legal battle over profits from hit 2002 movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Vardalos wrote the script for the comedy, while Hanks and Wilson were producers of the film. My Big Fat Greek Wedding proved to be an unexpected blockbuster, earning profits of $368 million. However, the trio later accused their co-financiers at Gold Circle Films of reneging on agreements to pay the stars a share of the takings, and filed a lawsuit at Los Angeles County Superior Court in 2007. But the firm's bosses have reportedly refused to pay the plaintiffs any share of the profits or damages - and Hanks, Wilson and Vardalos have since decided to put an end to the legal wrangling by dropping the suit altogether. They have yet to give a specific reason for their actions.

Angie Buys Designer Duds For Knox & Vivienne

Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, on July 12 and the celebrity mom reportedly dropped a small fortune on designer duds for the babes! Nothing but the best for the Jolie-Pitt kiddies. Angelina, 33, was shopping at the famous baby boutique Petit Tresor, and purchased mini Burberry outfits. Of course mama couldn't leave out the other kids - Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and little miss Shiloh, 2. She dropped some cash on them as well. Daddy Pitt picked out items for the babies' room.

Freeman still in serious condition after car crash

Morgan Freeman remained in serious condition Tuesday with a broken arm and elbow after rescuers used a jaws-of-life machine to free him and a passenger from their car after it crashed on a stretch of rural Mississippi Delta highway this weekend. Freeman, 71, and Demaris Meyer, 48, of Memphis, Tenn., were taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis following the accident in Tallahatchie County on Sunday night. Donna Lee, Freeman's publicist, said the Oscar-winning actor, who underwent surgery late Monday, has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage "but is in good spirits." Lee said "The Dark Knight" star is expected to make a full recovery.

Reese And Jake To Be Married By Christmas!

Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly been telling friends and coworkers that he and Reese Witherspoon are engaged! A source on the set of his new movie The Prince Of Persia said:
He told me he had proposed several times but she kept telling him she wanted to give their relationship more time. When he asked her again a couple of weeks ago, she finally said yes.’

Katie Holmes Arrives in NYC for Broadway Stint

Katie Holmes has arrived in New York City ahead of her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's "All My Sons." The actress was photographed around the Big Apple on Wednesday and Thursday. Previews for the show Holmes' Broadway debut start Sept. 18 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The play also stars John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson and will officially open on Oct. 16. Holmes, 29, will be in the production for 16 weeks. She and hubby Tom Cruise plan to stay in the city during that time.

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong broke up this weekend after a three month romance that went public when they were spotted in Austin, Texas in mid May. "There was no drama or ugliness - They just decided to end things," a source close to the couple informed. "There is no hatred, just sadness." The pair quickly became inseparable with sightings of them in Austin, New York and Los Angeles, though both dodged questions about their relationship. In the short time they were together, the 29-year-old actress was seen with the 36-year-old cyclist at many of his races and events, including his three-day Lance Armstrong Livestrong Summit in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend. Each had introduced the other to family. Hudson's mom Goldie Hawn gave what seemed to be her approval at a July 1 lunch at The Ivy at the Shore. Also, Hudson's four-year-old son Ryder went to a Father's Day brunch, with Armstrong and dad Chris Robinson in June.

Anne Hathaway's Diaries Confiscated by FBI

Actress Anne Hathaway's personal diaries have been confiscated by the FBI as part of their ongoing investigation into 12 counts of wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering charged against her ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, the New York Daily News reported Thursday. Personal photos of the couple along with other documents and items including a Tiffany clock and an antique bible were also taken by the FBI, according to the paper. Hathaway, 25, dumped the 29-year-old Italian businessman days before he was arrested at the end of June. She has not been implicated in any of his alleged crimes. According to the United States Attorney's Office, Follieri misappropriated "hundreds of thousands of dollars in investor money to live a luxurious lifestyle, including expensive restaurants and clothes; dog walking services; an opulent apartment in Manhattan that leased for approximately $37,000 per month; medical expenses for his girlfriend at the time and his parents, including a 'house call' by Follieri's physician, which cost $30,000."

Courtney Love sued by management firm

Rock-star widow Courtney Love has been sued by a management firm for allegedly failing to pay commissions for the partial sale of her share of the Nirvana publishing catalogue. The suit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday by the management firm London & Co. Love, the widow of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, sold a portion of the catalogue for $19.5 million last year. London was hired to provide business management services to Love and was to be paid 5% of the revenues received by Love, according to the lawsuit. Love's attorney, Howard Weitzman, said of the allegations, "I'm aware there's an issue between London Co. and Courtney, but I have not seen the lawsuit." London is asking for $975,000 it claims it is owed as well as costs of the suit.

Bale arrested and released; denies assault

Christian Bale on Tuesday denied allegations of assault made by his mother and sister, hours after the star of "The Dark Knight" was arrested, questioned by London police and released. The 34-year-old Bale spent four hours at a police station, but was not charged and was released on bail. British media reported that Bale's mother and sister complained he had assaulted them at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of "The Dark Knight." Bale's London-based law firm, Schillings said Bale, issued a statement denying that an assault took place.

Christian Bale, star of the record-breaking "The Dark Knight," has been arrested by police in London who are investigating claims he assaulted his sister and mother, according to London's Press Association. Bale allegedly lashed out at this sister and mother in his hotel suite at Park Lane's Dorchester Hotel on Sunday. Bale's mother and sister made the formal allegation at a Hampshire police station Monday. Their complaint was then passed on to the Metropolitan Police to be investigated further. It came the day after Bale attended the first European screening in London of "The Dark Knight," the latest in the Batman franchise also starring the late Heath Ledger as the Joker.

"Dark Knight" sets weekend record with $155.34M

"The Dark Knight" took in a record $155.34 million in its first weekend, topping the previous best of $151.1 million for "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007 and pacing Hollywood to its biggest weekend ever, according to studio estimates Sunday. The movie's release was preceded by months of buzz and speculation over the performance of the late "Heath Ledger" as the Joker, Batman's nemesis. Ledger, who died in January from an accidental prescription-drug overdose, played the Joker as a demonic presence, his performance prompting predictions that the role might earn him a posthumous Academy Award nomination. "The Dark Knight" reunites director "Christopher Nolan" with his "Batman Begins" star "Christian Bale", whose vigilante crime-fighter is taunted and tested by Ledger's Joker as the villain unleashes violence and chaos on the city of Gotham. "The Dark Knight," which cost $185 million to make, also broke the "Spider-Man 3" record for best debut in IMAX large-screen theaters with $6.2 million. "Spider-Man 3" opened with $4.7 million in IMAX cinemas.

Batman’s joust with the Joker has set another box office record. Stoked by fan fever over the manic performance of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker, “The Dark Knight” set a one-day box office record with $66.4 million on opening day, Warner Bros. head of distribution Dan Fellman said Saturday. The movie’s Friday haul surpassed the previous record of $59.8 million set last year by “Spider-Man 3.” “The Dark Knight” might break the opening-weekend record of $151.1 million, also held by “Spider-Man 3.”

“We’ve really never seen anything like this,” said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. “The death of a fine actor taken in his prime, a legendary performance, and a movie that lives up to all the hype. That all combined to create these record-breaking numbers.”

The film spins an epic crime duel as Ledger’s Joker orchestrates a reign of terror on the city of Gotham aimed to spread chaos and break down the restraint that keeps Batman on the right side of the law.

It has been reported that Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have ended their custody fight for their two sons. Federline will reportedly get sole custody of their two son's, Sean Preston and Jayden James, while Spears will continue to have visitation rights, according to the agreement signed by both parties. Spears, 26, currently has monitored, twice-a-week visitation and one overnight visitation per week. Under the settlement, it is expected her visitation rights will be increased as time goes on. Earlier Spears lost visitation rights in January after she was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Since then, she has been under the co-conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears.

Salma Hayek calls off Engagement

Salma Hayek and the French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault the father of her daughter Valentina have called off their engagement. Hayek, 41, stated that she didn't feel the "need" to get married. The two kept their relationship low-key since meeting in Venice in May 2006. They revealed they were expecting around the same time they announced their engagement last March. Valentina was born last September. Valentina is the first child for Hayek; Pinault, 45, has two children from a previous marriage. Angelina Jolie gives birth to twins

It has been reported that Angelina Jolie has given birth to twins, a boy named Knox Leon and a girl named Vivienne Marcheline. The boy, Knox Leon, weighed in at 5.03 lbs, while his twin sister, Vivienne Marcheline, weighed in at just 5 lbs according to the Associated Press. Jolie, 33, gave birth via a Cesarian section at the Lenval Hospital on the French Riviera, France on Saturday night. The actress checked into the hospital at the end of June via helicopter. Jolie is staying on the hospital's fifth floor which features an "unobstructed view" over the Bay of Angels. She reserved four rooms on the maternity ward, with a bodyguard keeping watch, according to the report. The twins are the fifth and sixth additions to the Jolie-Pitt family, which already includes Maddox 6, Pax 4, Zahara 3, and Shiloh 2.

It was announced on 8th of July that a museum is due to open in Shanghai, commemorating the superb journey of Jackie Chan from his early beginnings in Hong Kong to his phenomenal worldwide mega-success in hollywood. The pair who welcomed their girl on Monday in Nashville have purchased a gated, five-bedroom, five-bathroom contemporary style home in Beverly Hills. The house, which offers 4,100 square feet and features a pool and grassy backyard, also has an existing baby nursery that was done for a little boy, but it can be easily changed for their little girl, the source adds. Ethan Hawke wed former nanny, Ryan Shawhughes late last month. Last month the Newyork post reported that sources saw Hawke and Shawhughes, applying for a marriage license at the Municipal Building on Centre Street in New York City. Shawhughes met Hawke when she worked as a nanny, looking after his children with Uma Thurman. The two reportedly began dating following the Hawke's divorce from Thurman in 2004. It is reported that Matthew McConaughey's Brazilian girlfriend has given birth to a boy named Levi. The child the first for McConaughey and model Camila Alves was born in Los Angeles on Monday evening. The child's name Levi is another name for the apsotle Matthew in the bible.

Mc Conaughey stated that:

"Our son was born at 6:22 PM, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: 'If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.'"

"Hancock" surpasses all others

Will Smith's "Hancock", a story of a foul mouthed superhero, who dresses in an awkward fashion, led the 4th July weekend with a massive $66 million according to studio estimates. That raised the total for the movie to $107.3 million since it opened Tuesday night. "Hancock" is Smith's fifth movie to open at No.1, over the 4th of July. The others were "Men in Black" and its sequel, "Independence Day" and "Wild Wild West." Overseas, "Hancock" made an additional $78 million in 50 other countries.

Sources have reported that Britney Spears has been in close contact with photographer Adnan Ghalib. Adnan has been spotted numerous times over the past week, sneaking into the "Summit Circle", the posh gated community where Britney Spears lives. A "300" Follow Up on its way

Legendary Pictures have confirmed that a follow up of the epic movie "300" is on its way. Frank Miller is supposed to be the writer and Zack Snyder is intended to direct. Miller is writing the graphic novel upon which this project is based. But a twist in this tale is that "Gerard Butler" who played the lead role as King Leonidas, died in the orignal movie, thus a follow up would be tricky.

Will Smith to open a New School

Will Smith and his wife Jada are opening a new school in LA, called the "New Village Academy." The couple is investing a huge amount for this venture, which will cover primary schooling for young students. It must be pointed out that even though the school's head is a scientologist but the couple insists that their school has no specific religious affiliation and the Smiths are themselves not Scientologists.

King Lear in the making

Reports reveal that Naomi Watts, Gwyneth Paltrow and Keira Knightely will star in "King Lear." The Guardian has confirmed that these actresses will be acting as the King's daughters in this big-budgeted version of Shakespeare’s classic play, also starring Anthony Hopkins. Director Michael Stern told that more stars would be announced for the film shortly.

The story centers on a powerful King who is dividing his estate among his three daughters: Cordelia (Knightley), Regan (Paltrow) and Goneril (Watts). But when Cordelia is unable to please her father in the conventional manner, she is disowned, and the larger share of the throne goes to her sisters.

This movie is supposed to reach the theaters in 2010.

Depp to work in Nair's "Shantaram"

Johnny Christopher Depp is reported to be working on a new project with Mira Nair. Nair's new movie "Shantaram" which is due to release in 2009, will star Depp in the lead role. This movie is co-produced by Depp's Infinitum Nihil and Brad Pitt's production company Plan B. Indian-born Nair, who also directed "Monsoon Wedding" in 2001 and "Vanity Fair" in 2004, admits she is a big fan of the book and is looking forward to the challenge of working behind the camera with Depp.
